Our History

At George Morlan Plumbing, we take pride in our rich history that spans over four generations. Our story began in 1927 when George Morlan, along with his wife Mary, left their home in Arkansas to start a new life in Portland, Oregon. George, a skilled plumber, opened his own plumbing business with just one helper and a Ford truck. The early years were marked by hard work and perseverance, with George weathering the economic challenges of the Great Depression by plumbing new homes in the suburbs of Portland.

As the years passed, George's business grew, and he expanded his operation to include a plumbing parts counter and showroom. It was during this time that the electric water heater was introduced, revolutionizing the way people accessed hot water in their homes. George's business quickly became known for its extensive selection of water heaters, earning him the nickname "The Water Heater King!"

In the post-war era, George's son Gary joined the business, and together they expanded the operation to include a crew of service plumbers. The company continued to grow, and by the 1950s, George had opened a second store in Gresham. After George's retirement in 1965, his son Gary took over the business, and his wife Leone brought a new level of efficiency and organization to the operation.

Led by Rick Kramien, the company's President, we have expanded our operations to six showrooms across the state, with a team of experienced professionals dedicated to providing the best possible service.
